Yet another Costa Rica bird, from our boat tour on the Tarcoles river, which was some of the best birding of the trip. The frigatebirds had no qualms about diving to try to snatch food off the surface of the river almost right next to the boat. They are incredibly agile fliers and a joy to watch.

The Magnificent frigatebird can be found in many places around the globe, but I’ve never seen so many as on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica.
