FREE - Cold Weather Clinic

Just because the weather has turned cold and wet is no reason to put away your kayak. Learn the secrets of dressing for cold weather from Steve Weileman, an ACA Open Coastal Instructor, BCU 5-Star trainee, and founder of Essex Explorations. In addition to displaying the latest in garment technology, Steve will share his tips for staying warm both during and after the paddle.

The clinic will be held at Backpackers Supply, November 30th at 7 PM. For questions or directions call (253) 472-4402.

New NOAA Weather Tool

NOAA has a new Graphical Forecast - Pacific Northwest tool. It's an invaluable one-stop tool for trip planning. Max/Min temperatures, Probability of Precipitation, Current Temperature, Wind Speed & Direction, and Wave Height are just a few of the items you can layout on an easy color cordinated map. You also have the option of looking as specific hours, week trends, or in 12 hour blocks. Anyone venturing out on the water will find this tool incredibly useful.

New Movies and Galleries

Our explorers have been busy these last couple of months and there are some new slideshows and movies on our galleries page. In October Jason Goldstein and Steve Weileman explored the Hoh River area as well as surfed off of Kalaloch Beach. Be sure to check out the movie of Jason snapping his Greenland stick in the surf zone.

Then check out the Annual Explorers Paddle where existing and potential members got together for a fun weekend BBQ, surf and explorations. There currently is a slideshow posted of the event and Steve is busy editing the movie.
