Photo of the Week – Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge

Nisqually Reach

The Nisqually River comes raging down Mt. Rainier’s ice choked rock scree and proceeds to plunge over eighty miles through forest, park, farm, dam, military range and Indian reservation before finally coming slowly into it’s own at the marvelous estuary know as the Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge. The Nisqually Delta can be explored by kayak or on foot, and both approaches offer any nature lover terrific opportunities for bird and marine mammal sightings, views and nature interpretation.

Newly appointed improvements and changes to the flow of the sea in and through the Delta makes this a wonderful workshop for a lifetime of visits to watch and wonder as the seasons change, tide and time work their magic, and the outdoor experience renew the human spirit.
